David Freeman is Clinical Director of Garden Heights Recovery. He has a Masters in social work from Rutgers University graduating summa cum laude and is credentialed as a licensed clinical social worker and licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor. David has an extensive knowledge of addictions and has been working in the field for many years. David started as a clinician seeing clients one on one and group therapist. Over the years through promotions he has served in the role of associate director and acting director of the short term residential level of care as well as senior therapist working with the long term residential clients. He is extremely passionate about his work with the population and known by his peers for never failing to going above and beyond.” I use a client centered approach, treatment should be custom tailored to the individual in order to provide the optimal environment to foster and sustain positive change. The program at Garden Heights truly reflects this attitude.”
Additionally, David has a private psychotherapy practice that he runs out of his Hoboken, New Jersey office. “I see therapy as a service. I meet the client where they are at, assessing their strengths and utilize the client’s feedback to identify where they would like to do work. There is nothing magical or mysterious about the process, the heavy lifting is performed by the clients without which there would be no progress or sustained change.” David’s nonjudgmental approach is crucial in creating a place of healing.
At Garden Heights Recovery, we recognize that the path of addiction recovery is a unique experience for everyone. While there are common factors that contribute to drug and alcohol abuse, failing to address underlying traumas or mental health disorders leaves one vulnerable to relapse and other potential consequences. That's why we utilize a trauma-informed, person-first approach to care that focuses on the client as an individual rather than simply treating symptoms. Our low staff-to-client ratio helps reinforce this client focus for lasting success in recovery.
