Garden Heights Recovery is a drug and alcohol addiction treatment facility located in Jersey City, New Jersey. As an outpatient center focused on relapse prevention and client empowerment, Garden Heights Recovery offers individualized care designed to meet the needs of each client.
Unlike inpatient rehab centers that require one to put life on pause to focus on recovery, outpatient levels of care allow for a greater balance between seeking treatment and maintaining other life commitments. With flexible day and evening options, Garden Heights Recovery's treatment programs can fit into any work or school schedule.
IOP/OP treatment offers continued structure and support while allowing clients to begin exploring everyday life in sobriety. Flexible day and evening options allow one to work, go to school, or tend to other obligations.
Support and guidance through early recovery and beyond can be vital for long-term success. Partial hospitalization programs provide comprehensive care eight hours per day while allowing clients to return home at night.

David Freeman is Clinical Director of Garden Heights Recovery. He has a Masters in social work from Rutgers University graduating summa cum laude and is credentialed as a licensed clinical social worker and licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor. David has an extensive knowledge of addictions and has been working in the field for many years. David started as a clinician seeing clients one on one and group therapist. Over the years through promotions he has served in the role of associate director and acting director of the short term residential level of care as well as senior therapist working with the long term residential clients. He is extremely passionate about his work with the population and known by his peers for never failing to going above and beyond.” I use a client centered approach, treatment should be custom tailored to the individual in order to provide the optimal environment to foster and sustain positive change. The program at Garden Heights truly reflects this attitude.”
Additionally, David has a private psychotherapy practice that he runs out of his Hoboken, New Jersey office. “I see therapy as a service. I meet the client where they are at, assessing their strengths and utilize the client’s feedback to identify where they would like to do work. There is nothing magical or mysterious about the process, the heavy lifting is performed by the clients without which there would be no progress or sustained change.” David’s nonjudgmental approach is crucial in creating a place of healing.
At Garden Heights Recovery, we recognize that the path of addiction recovery is a unique experience for everyone. While there are common factors that contribute to drug and alcohol abuse, failing to address underlying traumas or mental health disorders leaves one vulnerable to relapse and other potential consequences. That's why we utilize a trauma-informed, person-first approach to care that focuses on the client as an individual rather than simply treating symptoms. Our low staff-to-client ratio helps reinforce this client focus for lasting success in recovery.
"By far, this is the best treatment program I've ever been through. Filled with passionate staff, awesome director by taking care of our needs as human beings. Small, individualized treatment and rehabilitation. Can't wait for what each day brings, challenging yet rewarding. Thanks to these guys I strive to remain drug free."
"After attending numerous outpatient centers, it was a struggle to find a program where I could connect with the therapist and effectively work towards recovery. They understood the importance of setting me up for success beyond treatment and I'm forever grateful."
"When I needed to get my brother help for his drinking they were able to act quickly and get him in the very next day. It's been 3 months since he left the program and I have my old brother back."
"My experience was fantastic.
